Epizootia de Aschersonia cf. goldiana em Bemisia tabaci (Homoptera: Aleyrodidae) biótipo B no estado de São Paulo Anais da SEB
Lourenção,André L.; Yuki,Valdir A.; Alves,Sérgio B..
The first observations on the presence of Bemisia tabaci biotype B (=B. argentifolii) in Brazil were made in the beginning of the 1990s in the State of São Paulo. from then on, that whitefly has spread out to other States. In the summer of 1997/98, B. tabaci biotype B reached Guaíra-Miguelopólis, an area of the State of São Paulo not yet infested, with high populations of the insect, mainly in soybean, cotton and vegetable crops. In the the first week of February 1998, during a survey in an abandoned field of soybean, an epizootic of Aschersonia cf. goldiana was verified on that whitefly in the whole area, with total infection of nymphs in the lower surface of the leaves. At the same date, in two other soybean fields of the region, the incidence of this...

Fungos anamorfos decompositores do folhedo de Caesalpinia echinata Lam. Rev. Bras. Bot.

Phylogeny and taxonomic revision of the Planistromellaceae including its coelomycetous anamorphs: contributions towards a monograph of the genus Kellermania Naturalis
Minnis, A.M.; Kennedy, A.H.; Grenier, D.B.; Palm, M.E.; Rossman, A.Y..
The core species of the family Planistromellaceae are included in the teleomorphic genera Planistroma and Planistromella and the connected anamorphic, coelomycetous genera Alpakesa, Kellermania, and Piptarthron. These genera have been defined primarily on the basis of ascospore septation or number of conidial appendages. Due to a lack of DNA sequence data, phylogenetic placement of these genera within the Dothideomycetes, evaluation of monophyly, and questions about generic boundaries could not be adequately addressed in the past. Isolates of nearly all of the known species in these genera were studied genetically and morphologically. DNA sequence data were generated for the nSSU, ITS, nLSU, and RPB1 markers and analysed phylogenetically. These results...

Phylogeny of Discosia and Seimatosporium, and introduction of Adisciso and Immersidiscosia genera nova Naturalis
Tanaka, K.; Endo, M.; Hirayama, K.; Okane, I.; Hosoya, T.; Sato, T..
Discosia (teleomorph unknown) and Seimatosporium (teleomorph Discostroma) are saprobic or plant pathogenic, coelomycetous genera of so-called ‘pestalotioid fungi’ within the Amphisphaeriaceae (Xylariales). They share several morphological features and their generic circumscriptions appear unclear. We investigated the phylogenies of both genera on the basis of SSU, LSU and ITS nrDNA and β-tubulin gene sequences. Discosia was not monophyletic and was separated into two distinct lineages. Discosia eucalypti deviated from Discosia clade and was transferred to a new genus, Immersidiscosia, characterised by deeply immersed, pycnidioid conidiomata that are intraepidermal to subepidermal in origin, with a conidiomatal beak having periphyses. Subdividing Discosia...

Revision of Lophiotremataceae (Pleosporales, Dothideomycetes): Aquasubmersaceae, Cryptocoryneaceae, and Hermatomycetaceae fam. nov. Naturalis
Hashimoto, A.; Matsumura, M.; Hirayama, K.; Tanaka, K..
The family Lophiotremataceae (Pleosporales, Dothideomycetes) is taxonomically revised on the basis of morphological observations and phylogenetic analyses of sequences of nuclear rDNA SSU, ITS, and LSU regions and tef1 and rpb2 genes. A total of 208 sequences were generated from species of Lophiotremataceae and its relatives. According to phylogenetic analyses, Lophiotremataceae encompasses the genus Lophiotrema and five new genera: Atrocalyx, Crassimassarina, Cryptoclypeus, Galeaticarpa, and Pseudocryptoclypeus. These genera are characterised by ascomata with or without a slit-like ostiole and pycnidial conidiomata. Three new families, Aquasubmersaceae, Cryptocoryneaceae, and Hermatomycetaceae, are proposed. Two genera previously recognised as members of...
